The influences of Mathematics in Art have been felt through the ages , from the Greeks ( the golden ratio) to the Renaissance ( Leonardo's atmospheric and linear perspective), to the scientific and applied studies of light (Cheuvreuil, Monet), to all genres of modern paintings (Coleville, Dali, Pop Art) .

Though Mathematics has been used successfully to explain the world objectively, it does not deal with the psychological or emotional associations that we layer over our experiences of reality, as well as the memory of these experiences. Art attempts to explore these layers.

My interest lies in interpreting nature as well as man's intervention in nature, to evoke these subconscious layers, using mathematical constructs when appropriate. By capturing a sense of time and place of my subject matter, I seek to explore the elusiveness and mystery of experience and memory.

I am a Master Pastelist signature member of Pastel Canada and a member of Artists in Canada.
